A review of The Miss Matched

Fans of the traditional Regency will love to see Jonathan from this series get his heart’s desire, though he has to go through hell for it.

Pamela Ashton is the up and coming debutante in the area whom everyone expects to marry as well as Charlotte, who bagged Thomas, a Duke in the last book, The Missed Match.

Jonathan works for Thomas as his vicar, parish priest in the Anglican church, and for many in that time period, even though he is handsome, debonair and well-educated, (and secretly rich and titled) Pamela wants to set her sights higher.

But the more she looks at her other suitors, the more she longs for Jonathan. Yet every single time they start to get intimate, he pulls away. The dark secret which has plagued Thomas and Jonathan is eventually brought to light and explains why he loves Pamela but feels he can never ask for her hand.

We have to admire him for this–he is not the usual Regency rake at all, and it is she who propels the relationship on, going after her man and what she wants in a refreshing role reversal.

The suspense at the end was great, and the nasty Ferncliffe and Breedon are certainly not what they seem to be!

Charming, witty, fast paced, even if not filled with sex scenes, though we have some really nice love scenes.

Be warned, the next two books, Jonathan’s sister Sarah, and Thomas’ sister Elizabeth, round out the mystery from the first 3 Rakehell Regency romance books, but they are more spicy/sensual, though always tasteful and never anatomical.

Final word: super characters, great suspense, and I love the sexy heroes in this series.
